Our Stance

With the size and success of M|SD comes a great responsibility to its members. M|SD takes this responsibility very seriously. It is about ensuring that members associate pleasant experiences with M|SD that meet their expectations and receive help whenever they need it. Because we want to bring people together and are convinced: Getting to know each other, having new experiences, and experiencing moments together are human needs that enrich life. But whenever people come together, it also offers opportunities for conflicts. We rely on trust as the foundation for good relationships – within the community and between us and our members. However, trust also requires rules and clear consequences when the rules are not followed – so that trust is not exploited.

Together with our members, we take action against misconduct, fraud, and abuse on the platform. What have we done so far? Since our foundation in 2010, we have agreed on terms of use that are intended to restrict abuse and show clear consequences: Those who do not comply with the rules of respectful interaction and who do not accept our terms are warned and, if necessary, blocked. We refuse to provide a platform for such people. With various system-specific checks, an internal reporting system, and our dedicated employees, we ensure safe online dating within the community.

There is an internal reporting system that members can use to report each other. These reports are individually and manually reviewed by our support. We check profile flirt texts for content that does not meet our terms or other misconduct. In addition, there has been a voluntary ID check from the start, with which members can prove their age beyond doubt. Because our services and philosophy are aimed at adult people, and we only want to provide a platform for this purpose. We have consistently developed these conditions further to offer our members the best possible protection: In the course of our growth, we completely redesigned the system in 2016 and have since set up a multi-stage registration process. In addition, the reason for reporting "user underage" was established. Since 2021, reported profiles have been checked manually and, if suspected, also blocked and an ID check requested. This also applies to profiles that have not been reported but are flagged by the system because of indicators in the profile, or otherwise – here too, the profile is initially blocked, and an ID check is requested. Even when pictures are flagged by the system, that suggest the user is a minor, the profiles are blocked right away, and an ID check is requested.

How do we continue to develop?

Whenever we receive reports of misconduct, we follow-up on each report consistently. Consequently, we see our rules and measures confirmed, and we see confirmed that the community internalizes the rules and actively contributes to compliance. But every protection system and concept must always be adapted and further developed to effectively combat abuse and new methods. Therefore, we regularly train our employees, discuss and sensitize for topics at least monthly, invest heavily in data protection and data security, and routinely review our processes for topicality and possibilities for improvement. Because fraud and abuse on the Internet are increasing – we are taking this into account and making our contribution to a safe online community.

What else do we have planned?

We also reacted recently when we received more indications of specific potential violations. We reacted quickly and tightened our measures. Among other things, we have sensitized our employees directly and additionally for the topic: There is regular information and exchange about known profiles, illegal pictures, and flirt texts. We have introduced a binding 4-eye principle, which is applied to all checks of this kind. In addition to the manual check, flirt texts, pictures, and avatars are pre-sorted by AI-controlled search – especially, but not exclusively, for signs of underage profiles. We want to continue to develop in this area and plan a AI-based liveness check. Members will be checked for authenticity and age by video when registering on the platform. If the program flags the accuracy of the information, we will request an ID check in that instance. Until then, the user will not be able to use the platform.

And we continue to rely on our committed and attentive community: We want to build a stable network of moderators – long-standing, trustworthy members can support our support by, for example, blocking suspicious profiles. The block must then be confirmed by support. And for our own employees, we are working on a whistleblower system in cooperation with an external contact person. They should thus have the opportunity to report potential misconduct anonymously and externally. This is linked to a binding process that leads to consequences and corrections.

What are the limits?

But even the most modern security and protection concept cannot prevent everything: nowadays, misconduct, imaginative fraud, and abuse of services on the Internet are unfortunately daily occurrences. Nevertheless, we are convinced that with our efforts and system, we make an important contribution – for our members. Our platform is aimed at men and women who want to enjoy an exclusive lifestyle together. We offer a safe space where successful men and ambitious women can meet, looking for unique world-class experiences. To protect this community – our members – we do not tolerate misconduct. We have introduced binding rules, which we consistently develop further, and have given ourselves various measures to implement and comply with these rules.
